The event, a fundraiser for the Burloak Canoe Club, featured an eight-kilometre road race, a 3.5-km walk, a 1K kids' run and team challenges. Following the races, participants gathered for a barbecue and live music along the shores of Sixteen Mile Creek. them bad, we hadn't done that in a long time. This is huge for us." So while the United States and 11 other countries prepare to battle it out for Olympic gold this summer in London, Canada will continue trying to figure out what it will take to earn a trip to Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Lewis believes competing in the World League tournament -- which begins this weekend at Toronto's Ricoh Coliseum -- should help. "Even if we lose every single match, we have to get so much out of this," Lewis said of the World League competition, which will see Canada play 12 matches -- including four apiece against world No. 1 Brazil and No. 4 Poland. "You have to take every chance, experience, situation, and learn how to excecute when the pressure's on. "We have the physical guys. We have the coach. We now have good support and funding," added Lewis, who intends to play at least two more seasons with the national teams and possibly four. "We need to be able to execute at an extremely high level continuously and consistently at the right moment. "That is the last piece of the puzzle for us." -- Jon Kuiperij can be followed on Twitter @Beaversports Ruggers on Buzz product on NLL all-rookie team national team Oakville's Phil Mackenzie, Jamie Mackenzie and Mike Scholz have been named to the Canadian roster for this summer's international test matches. Phil, who scored two trys in the World Cup, and Jamie McKenzie played professionally with Esher Rugby Football Club, a second division team in Surrey, England. Scholz, who plays for the Ontario Blues, won a gold medal with Canada at the Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro last year.
