www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, May 25, 2012 · 30 Big Bike event for heart and stroke The Big Bike is coming back to Oakville. In June, residents will once again be given the opportunity to stay active and raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation by participating in the Big Bike event. The event involves assembling teams who will go on a 15-20 minute ride on a Big Bike, which is capable of holding up to 29 people, to raise awareness and funds for heart disease and stroke research. There is no shortage of reason to do this with heart disease and stroke currently taking one in three Canadians before their time. Heart disease and stroke are also the No. 1 killer of women in Canada. Riders will have the name of their company or team proudly displayed on their Big Bike as they ride through their community. Cheering crowds and music all add to the fun of the experience. The team, which raises the most money in each province will receive CPR training and will have an automated external defibrillator (AED) installed in their community along with a plaque showing the winning team's name.
