www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, May 30, 2012 · 4 Trio arrested in identity theft Three Mississauga residents are facing numerous charges in connection with an alleged identity theft scam, through which victims in Oakville, Mississauga, Brampton and other GTA cities lost thousands of dollars. Halton police reported that the scam saw suspects set up bank accounts using stolen identity information. With the accounts in place, it is alleged the suspects would go to various `big box' outlet stores and jewelry shops and make large purchases. The Halton Regional Police Service Regional Fraud Unit began an investigation in April. On May 23 a search warrant was executed at a Mississauga residence. During the search, police recovered an assortment of gift cards, $8,000 US and Canadian currency along with $20,000 worth of jewelry. Police also recovered more than 27 different identity documents and a Taser/stun gun. Police are in the process of contacting the victims of the identity thefts. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing and police said they expect to lay additional charges. Craig Alanzo McIntosh, 37, Kevin Oneil McIntosh, 35, and Jennifer Halyk, 32, all from Mississauga, have been charged with more than 95 criminal code charges relating to fraud, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of identity information. All are scheduled to appear in Milton Court on June 19. Oakville man faces charges A 34-year-old Oakville man is facing charges after a furnace and other materials were allegedly stolen from a construction site on Quetico Crescent Sunday evening. Halton police reported that around 9 p.m., a man was seen entering a two-storey home under construction. Insulation and a furnace were removed from the site. A suspect was seen leaving the area in a red van. Police traced the registration of the van to a home in Oakville where they located both the van and the stolen property. Benjamin Pepa, 34, of Oakville faces charges of break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime.
