The Town of Oakville announced Tuesday the launch of its interactive Cycle, Walk Oakville map, which offers a new way for cyclists and pedestrians to plan their route through the town's combined 255 kilometres of trails and paved bike paths. "This map reinforces Oakville's commitment to making active transportation even more accessible for residents," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. "Making cycling and walking opportunities safer and more convenient helps encourage a more active and sustain- Rob Burton able community." The Cycle, Walk map showcases Oakville's onroad cycle lanes, off-road multi-use trails for pedestrians and cyclists, trail variations (paved vs. unpaved) and provides information on bicycle safety, trail etiquette and wildlife. The map also shows recreation hot spots, including splash pads, swimming pools, and lookout areas, plus amenities such as parking, washroom facilities and water fountains.
