Orillia tempers were running a bit short this weekend after the Buzz ran the Kings over in a pair of Ontario Lacrosse Association junior B contests, including a 28-8 blitzing Friday at Glen Abbey Recreation Centre. Friday's contest, which Oakville led 12-0 after one period and 15-0 early in the second period, featured eight fighting majors. Orillia was whistled for 102 penalty minutes on the night, apparently not amused by the Oakville onslaught. Robert Bentivegna enjoyed a 10-point outing with six goals and four helpers, while Greg Campbell also scored six times and added two assists. Todd Nakasuji (four goals, five assists), Mike Beirgard (one goal, four assists), Spencer Gallant (two goals, three assists), Eddie Renaud (three goals, one assist) and Ryan Callaghan (one goal, three assists) were other offensive standouts. Elliott Cowburn, Ryan Cavanagh, Jake Jagodkin, Keyan McQueen and Bryan Campbell rounded out the scoring for the Buzz, with Ian Duffy recording the win in net and D.J. Trinity boys denied OFSAA trip Trinity's boys won't be competing in the OFSAA soccer championships, however, after losing the GHAC final 3-1 to St. Thomas More Thursday in Hamilton. The Titans opened the scoring on a penalty kick by Karlo Bobinac, but the Knights responded with three unanswered markers -- the final one coming with five minutes remaining and Trinity pressing up the field in search of the equalizer. Three red cards and the ejection of Titans head coach Andrew Saulez didn't exactly help Trinity's cause either, though Saulez said Trinity's discipline wasn't necessarily as big an issue as it appeared to be. All three red cards assessed to Trinity players were the result of double yellows. "To me, it didn't have to go that way," said the coach, who was tossed early in the second half -- when the game was tied 1-1 -- after protesting the first disqualification. "Obviously I wish I'd kept my mouth quiet, but I have to stick up for my guys a little bit. All I was asking was for (the ref) to be aware when someone already had a yellow card. I think you have to do something really bad to be out of the game, that's all I was saying, and I felt bad for the kid." St. Thomas More coach Dino Perri agreed with his counterpart. "I think (the Titans) were a little hard done by, in all fairness," Perri said. "Their coach could have got away with a warning. I thought it was a little harsh." The Titans tasted defeat just once in 10 Halton league games this season, including a shootout victory over Bishop Reding in the regional championship game.
