The free event will take place Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Halton Waste Management Site, 5400 Regional Rd. Open house at waste management site Sept. 29 25. Halton Region staff will be handing out an orange box to the first 500 residents who would like one to use at their home to store and transport household hazardous waste to the Halton Waste Management Site. The pilot project aims at promoting the proper disposal of household hazardous waste. The orange box is the same size as a standard blue box, but shouldn't be placed at the curb for collection. Residents are also encouraged to bring old electronic items to the event like a television, computer, laptop or VCR for recycling to receive a free lunch voucher that can only be used at the event (limit one voucher per family). Other highlights include greetings from Halton's Regional Chair Gar Carr and celebration cake at noon, guided tours of the facility, environmental craft activities, a cash barbecue provided by the Lion's Club of HomeDesignEvent& BacktoSewingSale!
