Ward 1 Councillor Ralph Robinson and Ward 2 Councillor Pam Damoff, each of whom played a role in bringing the new Oakville rule forward, said they were happy to see the Province taking a similar path. "It's just wonderful that the Province has stepped up to the plate on this," said Robinson. "This is something that really should have been in place all along. The same as the no smoking (policies) and all the other things we started here -- finally the Province got around to doing this as well." Damoff said the news was great coming just prior to Oakville's annual Terry Fox Run. "I'm over the moon," said Damoff. "I really honestly believe it was because of us the government was pushed to move on this. It let them gauge public opinion by letting us do it first and it was pretty obvious people were in support of it."
