Blow torches fired up to blast into ATMs Halton regional police is offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of individuals who have broken into ATMs using crowbars and blowtorches. Since July 15, an organized group of people has been linked to more than 50 incidents in Halton, Niagara, Hamilton, Waterloo, Peel, York, and Durham regions, along with Toronto, Ottawa and Québec. Twelve such break-ins occurred in Oakville and Burlington, resulting in losses of more than $100,000. The break-ins generally occurred in the late evening and early morning. Police believe the suspects are professional and organized. They often complete entering a premises in less than a minute.
