Big Brother/Sister Homework Club rewarding experience for both mentor and mentee thing. Knowing how difficult that can be, wouldn't you want to help that student? Well, you can through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Homework Club. I have been involved in the program since Grade 9. Now I'm in Grade 12, and wouldn't trade the experience for anything. In the program, you are matched with an elementary student who could use a helping hand. During the school year, you get to spend time with your student once a week after school to help them with the homework they find challenging, spend time reading together and play games. Maybe you can help them when they have trouble with friends or suggest how to handle a stressful situation at recess. Seeing how much they grow through the year shows you that you really do make a difference in their life. Each week the students Atelier! look forward to Homework Club. They are so excited to see their mentor, who connects them to the outside world while helping them with their own. And it's not only rewarding for the kids, but we mentors get a lot out of it too. It is very gratifying to see the relief and happiness in a child's face when they understand something they have been struggling with and complete their homework successfully. The feeling is priceless. Not only is your involvement in the program rewarding, it is great for your resume as well. Employers and universities value that you are able to work with children.
