The event, hosted by the national research network AllerGen NCE Inc., in partnership with Halton Region, runs 6:30-8 p.m., in the Bronte Room of the regional centre. Those who attend will have the opportunity to hear from Canada's leading medical experts who specialize in childhood asthma research, care, diagnosis and treatment. The audience will also discuss seasonal `asthma spikes,' prevention tips and best practices in asthma management with representatives of community organizations including the Ontario Lung Association. Research has shown every September and December there is a predictable rise in severe asthma attacks and hospitalization rates among school-age children. This is known as the September and December `asthma spike.' Increased emergency room visits in these months take children out of the classroom at critical points in the school year. It also often causes family members to miss work and puts significant pressure on the health-care system. Sale in effect November 1-30, 2012. Pick up a copy of our flyer for full details!
