Caregiver, associates face fraud-related charges Halton police have issued arrest warrants for six people on fraud-related charges after an Oakville senior was allegedly scammed out of more than $300,000 by his caregiver and her associates. Between 2010-11 the senior employed a woman in his home to assist him with daily living. During that time, police allege, the caregiver had access to the man's banking and financial records and utilized her position to siphon funds from the senior's bank accounts. Police allege the funds were illegally transferred into fictitious accounts and subsequently withdrawn by the caregiver's associates. The estimated loss is in excess of $300,000. The Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau has issued arrest warrants and is asking for the public's help in locating: Police seize drugs and weapons Two Oakville men are facing charges after police seized approximately $13,000 worth of illicit drugs at a Golden Briar Trail home Tuesday. Halton police Guns and Gangs Unit investigators executed a search warrant at the home after a lengthy investigation and allegedly located five pounds of marijuana and 21 grams of cocaine along with three weapons, including a BB-gun, a knife and pepper spray, and $9,000 in Canadian and American currency. Mark Corrigan, 25, of Oakville has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. faces charges including trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and contravention of firearm storage regulations.
