Four Rangers teams recently won titles at the unofficial North American championship competitions, nearly doubling the MOHA's unofficial all-time tally of International Silver Stick wins to 10. The atom A and atom AA Rangers accomplished an extremely rare feat at their tournaments in Sarnia last weekend, becoming the first two teams in the same age group from the same center to win Silver Stick championships in the same season since the 1950s. Both teams were presented with the actual Silver Stick that is housed at the Hockey Hall of Fame, reportedly only the third time the stick has been taken out of the Hall. The minor atom A and peewee AE Rangers were Oakville's other Silver Stick champions, while the minor bantam AA Rangers reached their tournament semifinals. Minor atom A The minor atom A Rangers' championship performance at the International Silver Stick tournament in Woodstock was nothing new. Oakville is undefeated in its past four tournaments, having won previous championships in Pittsburgh (Pre-Season Challenge), Woodstock (Regional Silver Stick) and in its hometown (Richard Bell Memorial). In the Rangers' most recent tournament win, they overcame an early 2-0 deficit to blast the Vaughan Rangers 6-2 in the championship game. Earlier in the tournament, Oakville tied Vaughan 2-2 before rattling off wins over the Quinte West Hawks (2-1), New Hamburg (7-0) and Nickel City Flames (4-3). Members of the team are Michael Doherty, Justin Wu, Ben Wadden, Connor Crane, Joseph Penman, Brant Angove, Christian Di Salvo, Brody Simpson, Bowen Mahoney, Adam Gunner, Landon Quinn, Carson Wiggins, Will Blakely, Ben Seifer, Max Lanoue, Andrew Kranjac and Hunter Greenhalgh. The team is coached by Don Simpson, Bryan Angove and Mike Greenhalgh, with Paul Kranjac serving as trainer/manager. Minor atom A The atom AA Rangers locked up their International Silver Stick crown with a 3-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins in the final, riding a stellar performance by goaltender Aidan O'Sullivan. Previously in the tournament, Oakville defeated the Red Bank Generals 4-1, tied Grand Rapids 3-3 and edged the London Jr. Knights 4-3 in pool play, then downed the Nickel City Rebels 5-4 in the semifinals. Other contributors to the championship were Adam Clark, Adam Zedor, Christian Pelley, Christopher Parsons, Colin Flurey, Dawson Maloney, Jacob Caravaggio, James Passafiume, Jamie Langill, Liam Mahoney, Matthew Jenner, Owen Sage, Riley Horton, Ryan Brown, Ryan Jeffrey and Tyler Ford. The team is coached by Aaron Mahoney, Al Clark and Chris Brown. Dave Langill is the trainer and Stanley Caravaggio is the manager. Minor atom A Oakville's atom A squad took a different route to the International Silver Stick title, losing its first game before winning each of its next four contests by three goals or more. The Rangers survived a tournamentopening 2-1 loss to the Grimsby Peach Kings to defeat the Montgomery Blue Devils 5-1 and Chicago Blues 9-0, blank Grimsby 4-0 in the semis and tame the Cobourg Cougars 5-2 in the title match. Members of the atom A Rangers are Adam Cherepacha, Blake Adams, Brady Afelskie, Camden Purboo, Evan Kollee, Jack Talbot, Jack Stallworthy, Jackson Weber, Jake McKinstray, Mark Benn, Matt Gigeris, Matthew Dybka, Michael Goverde, Nic Legaspi, Noah Darling, Owen Kennedy and Tyler McLeish. Minor atom A The peewee AE Rangers avenged their lone loss of their international tournament in Pelham by shutting out the Kent Ohio Cyclones 4-0 in the final.
