The minister will be addressing the topics of reducing red tape and reining in spending from a federal point of view. "The Harper government will remain focused on cutting red tape for businesses, reining in spending and keeping taxes low. These are key ingredients to ensuring Canadian businesses thrive and succeed," Clement said in a press release. "If Canada is to continue to outperform its peers when it comes to job creation and growth then we need to make sure Canadian businesses have the best environment possible to compete." Chamber members are looking forward to Clement's visit, according to Oakville Chamber of Commerce Chair Julia Hanna. "Our members are very interested to hear Minister Clement's plans for reducing the regulatory burden to business and controlling the federal government's costs," said Hanna. "The chamber network strongly believes in fiscal accountability and efficiency from our elected representatives." The Treasury Board is charged with overseeing government operations, spending and the country's 400,000-members of the public service sector. Clement brings three decades of senior ministerial experience to the position, stated the release.
