Taste the difference authenticity makes By Kym Funnel! hree generations and 70 years of combined culinary experience has brought a fabulous new Mediterranean restaurant to Oakville. Joseph’s Mediterranean Cuisine is run by father and son team, Pasquale and Anthony Coffa. That’s two generations, where’s the third? In the name of the restaurant of course! This upscale, casual fine-dining establishment is named after Anthony’s 18-month-old son, Joseph. Anthony has been in the restaurant industry for approximately 20 years, (the last five years running a catering company out of Hampton’s in the Quality Suites Hotel) while his father brings over 50 years of experience to the business. They felt the location (2322 Dundas St. W„ formerly Happy Valley Chinese Restaurant) was perfect for a new restaurant, as North Oakville is experiencing serious growth right now. Also, Joseph’s offers free parking, and plenty of it. Their lot is over an acre and a half large. This family owned and operated Mediterranean restaurant offers an exotic dining experience, from northern Italy, southern France, and a hint of Spain. Upon entering you find yourself swept up in their warm d£cor with lojs of little personal touches that may remind you of home. With leafy vines outlining archways, ceramic decorative pieces adorning the walls, and soothing music you can hear in the background, dinner at Joseph’s may just be the cheapest vacation you’ve had in a while. “We’ve had customers comment that ‘as we leave we feel like we’ve been on vacation’,” says Anthony. “We worked hard to achieve an authentic Mediterranean look, we worked many long hours!” Anthony and his father, along with their head and sous chefs, completed all the renovations themselves, in six weeks. Many long days (only breaking for Easter Sunday!) resulted in a successful Grand Opening with an authentic flair. Joseph’s prides themselves on their high quality of food and ser-. vice, and the extra steps they take to ensure perfection. Joseph’s head chef, Keith Hall, and sous chef Jim Davis, work ||| hard to prepare gourmet dishes to the highest standards. An exam-F.,i pie of the time and care that goes into each dish, they saut£ all "* '5 vegetables individually, resulting in tastier entries. A few of these -j tempting dishes are the Caramelized Quails - pan-seared. Forest ; Mushroom Basmati Rice and Kataifi Nest, natural jus with orange • zest and pistachios, and Lobster and Veal Mignon - Half Lobster fand grilled bacon wrapped tenderloin, Citrus Madeira Sabayon and crispy shallots. Having worked with Anthony at Hampton’s previously, they all work well together with the same high standards, creating a tasty authentic Mediterranean atmosphere. Daily features give the culinary team the opportunity to showcase their creativity and daring side - something to be tried in person. Joseph’s is open Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., :• Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and closed on Sundays, located at 2322 Dundas St.W.
