Burloak's Taylor Potts and her Nova Scotian partner, Maria Halavrezos, claimed bronze in the canoeing doubles 500-metre under-23 women's race. Jeremy Stott and Mississauga's Evan Bezemer were seventh in the canoeing doubles 1,000m junior men's event. Rob Clarke was part of the kayaking fours crew that finished ninth in the 1,000m under-23 men's race. Potts and Stott will represent Ontario at the upcoming Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que., as will Burloak teammates Alanna Bray-Lougheed, Joshua Havin, Jillian Perrone and Abigail Haines. Clarke and fellow Burloak paddlers Adam van Koeverden, Brady Reardon, Mark Oldershaw and Mark Klevinas will compete at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Duisburg, Germany, Aug. 27-Sept. 1. Jared Hines, Declan Goncalves, Cameron Elliot, Sam Scott and John Varriano were selected to the provincial team. Aidan Swanepoel was also named to the team but is currently sidelined by a shoulder injury he suffered at the start of the season. Hines goes to high school at Garth Webb, Goncalves attends St. Thomas Aquinas, and Elliot, Scott and Swanepoel are Oakville Trafalgar students. Varriano is a Mississauga resident who goes to Lorne Park. While in England, the Blues will participate in the Leicester Junior Academy and will have access to the club's facilities and coaching staff.
