Public school students select new trustees The students of the Halton District School Board have selected their new representatives at the board of trustees table. Zoha Khan and Allison Zheng, both Grade 11 students, have been chosen as the board's student trustees for the 2013-14 school year. Khan attends Iroquois Ridge High School and Zheng is a student at Craig Kielburger Secondary School. The pair replaces outgoing student trustees Arjun Dhanjal and Shaan Bhambra. "Words are not enough to describe how I feel about the position of student trustee and the potential it holds to opening new possibilities and opportunities for the students of Halton," said Khan, in a news release. "I feel extremely honoured and privileged to be able to represent the voice of the 55,000 students at the board table next year. It's an enormous responsibility and I feel I am prepared for the challenge." "I feel extremely grateful for this opportunity, and so honored to be a student trustee," said Zheng, in the release. "I'm very excited to take on this new position and very prepared to take on this new challenge. I can't wait to set foot on this journey with my partner, Zoha." The student trustees provide a student voice during the school board's decision-making process. "The Halton District School Board looks forward to working with Zoha and Allison, welcoming them in September," said board chair Amy Collard. "We're pleased to have these two students represent the student voice at the board table. We know they will provide leadership skills and a profound respect for the position, making the students they represent proud."
