Silence Hurts message on World Suicide Day World Suicide Prevention Day is Sept. 10, and the Halton Suicide Prevention Coalition (HSPC) is using the day to promote its "Silence Hurts" message across the region. In addition to presentations throughout the day, the coalition is hosting a free community event at Holy Trinity Secondary School, 2420 Sixth Line, from 7-9 p.m. "The HSPC is a collaborative of individuals and organizations providing a valuable service throughout Halton," said Regional Chair, Gary Carr. "Halton Region is proud to be a member of the coalition because, working together, the partnership provides leadership, advocacy and education to support everyone in our community." The session at Holy Trinity will focus on the subtle signs of someone considering suicide and how to respond, how to seek help or deal with a loss and what supports are available locally.
