The not-for-profit camp for female hockey players presented cheques of $5,000 last week to Right To Play and to Halton Women's Place. Right To Play aims to use sport and play to educate and empower children and youth to overcome the effects of poverty, conflict and disease in disadvantaged communities. Halton Women's Place provides a safe haven, information and education to support a future without abuse for women and their children. Three-time women's hockey Olympian Lori Dupuis was on hand for the cheque presentation. Other Canadian women's hockey team members Becky Kellar, Cheryl Pounder and Jennifer Botterill also gave instruction during the camp, which is founded and organized by Steve Lester. Oakville native Christina Kessler, a graduate of Harvard and two-time member of the national women's team, was the goaltender instructor at the camp. Carm Bozzo accepted the cheque on behalf of Halton Women's Place. A Right To Play representative was unable to attend the presentation, but the charity did organize team building and leadership activities during the camp. SEPTEMBER CONDITIONING CAMPS ARE BACK!
