Garbage Tag Program Did you know 95 per cent of residents already place out three garbage bags or less every other week? That means, the vast majority of Halton residents don't need to participate in the Garbage Tag Program! This is an increase of 10 per cent since the program was implemented in April 2013. By recycling and composting more, you will have less garbage. You may place three garbage bags/cans or less at the curb every other week. More than three garbage bags/ cans require a "garbage tag," up to a total of six garbage bags/cans maximum (three untagged, three tagged). The maximum weight per garbage bag/can is 23 kg (50 lbs). Garbage tags cost $2 per tag and can only be purchased in sheets of ve tags ($10 per sheet). These $2 garbage tags do not expire. Garbage tags are available for purchase online or in person. If you require garbage tags, you can begin using the $2 garbage tags on September 9, 2013. Your rst garbage collection day after Christmas Day (December 25) will NOT require garbage tags; however, the six garbage bag/can limit will apply.
