"Our service level is 24 hours after the end of the storm to clear local roads and our service level is to clear all sidewalks by 48 hours after the end of the storm," he said. "However, we send out the plows when the storm is nearing its end and we try to expedite that so, in a storm of this size, we should be done much sooner than 24 hours." Scalera estimated about 500 tonnes of salt will be used throughout the day Wednesday and into Thursday to tackle this latest snowfall. Storm cleanup will also likely cost the Town $400,000-$500,000, he added. see Facilities on p.11 by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff GRAND OPENING SALE Winter is showing no signs of letting up, hitting Oakville with another heavy snowfall yesterday. With likely up to 20 cm forecasted by the day's end -- the Town of Oakville's Director of Roads and Works Operations Enrico Scalera said about 35 plows were working during the storm to keep primary and secondary roads clear through the intense weather conditions. About 25 trucks were out Tuesday night salting in preparation for the winter storm and were continuously maintaining road conditions on major streets like Trafalgar Road since early yesterday morning, he told the Oakville Beaver early Wednesday afternoon.
