Dillon Casey stars in Canadian medical drama Remedy The Oakville Trafalgar High School graduate discusses his life, career, and future in acting by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff Artscene 15 | Friday, March 7, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com "Connected to your Community" Oakville native Dillon Casey stopped picturing where his life would be in the next few years. Instead, the 30-year-old actor said he's embracing the now, and jumping each hurdle as it comes. "I feel a little more relaxed than I used to be," Casey told the Oakville Beaver. "There's a worry that's out of my mind of where the next paycheque is going to come from or where the next job is coming from." I feel great about where I am. I have an opportunity to slow down and really have some perspective and be active in my life rather than reactive. Dillon Casey Actor The Oakville Trafalgar High School graduate, who has been going back and forth between Los Angeles and Toronto to pursue his acting career over the last five years, is now starring in Canadian medical drama Remedy, which premiered last week (Feb. 24) on Global TV. The series airs Mondays at 9 p.m. Casey plays Griffin Conner, a disgraced medical school dropout, who is forced to return to the hospital where his dad is chief of staff, his sister, Melissa, is a general surgeon and his other sister, Sandy, is a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. Casey, who has also appeared on other television series that include Nikita, Being Erica, Vampire Diaries and MVP, describes his character as the "golden child," who can be "the smartest guy in the room doing the dumbest thing imaginable." He said although there's still uncertainty of whether the show will be picked up for another season, he's learned to trust that the next job will come. Casey said he feels confident in his ability to act and make a living doing what he loves to do. "I feel great about where I am," he continued, noting how he's come a long way from waiting for the phone to ring and taking whatever job came his way. Now he is selecting projects that attract him and fit his interests creatively. "I have an opportunity to slow down and really have some perspective and be active in my life, rather than reactive." However, the lifestyle doesn't come without challenges, he warns. Being an actor means living a nomadic lifestyle and being flexible. "Strict plans will hold you back," said Casey, who was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award this year for his work on the web series Backpackers. He is also active with brothers Conor and Lyndon in their writing, acting and directing company, Casey Brothers, which is based in Los Angeles, CA. Casey boasted about having just sold a script to actor Vince Vaughn's Wild West Pictures production company. When he's not acting, Casey also dabbles in script writing. He frequents the Ontario Racquet Club in Mississauga and visits his father and friends in Oakville when he's in town.
