Games at Georgetown Fairgrounds, however, were postponed due to soggy conditions. Curtis said there are discussions on an annual basis about moving baseball to the fall, similar to the Hamilton public board, but organizers are reluctant because it would conflict with football season. The HSSAA does not permit students to participate in two sports at one time. Girls' fastpitch, a sport not contested at the OFSAA level, will feature just three teams this spring -- Holy Trinity, Iroquois Ridge and Georgetown's Christ the King. The season is slated to begin May 6 in Georgetown. "Hopefully, we'll get to four or five teams next year. If not, that might be the end of it," Curtis said of fastpitch, noting 20 schools are competing in girls' slowpitch this year instead. "It's disappointing, but what can you do? There aren't as many city teams anymore, so these kids just aren't playing (fastpitch). They're all going the slowpitch route."
