Harris then realized it needed a greater purpose and the Club initiated its first service project of many. However, it took a Supreme Court Decision to allow women to join Rotary, which occurred in 1989. This is what three individual women have to say about being a part of Rotary today. "As a Rotarian, I enjoy being part of a team of people who care about helping others. As a video producer with a passion for writing, I love using my promotional writing talent and my creative imagination to make a difference in my community and to people around the world. " Lorie Gelsheim, Rotary Club of Oakville. "Rotary has given me the ability to leverage my efforts, time and money and make a larger difference than I could have on my own. It has offered fellowship and a feeling of belonging. But most of all it has introduced me to some of the most amazing and inspiring people. " Jennifer Estall, Rotary Club of OakvilleTrafalgar. "I was a long-time supporter of Rotary before joining the Rotary Club of Oakville West. My initial introduction was as a volunteer with a number of Club fundraisers. Prior to joining, I was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship to recognize my contribution. Becoming a member was a natural progression to continue my interest in community service and the fellowship that goes with it.
