The Ryerson Theatre School graduate took home one of 50 THEA award statuettes for Best Performance Male in a Supporting Role in Burl-Oak Theatre Group's (BOTG) production of Leading Ladies earlier this year. ACT-CO said he was chosen because his "shenanigans, particularly as Jack's alter ego, Stephanie, kept the audience in stitches. "Pushing his performance to the edge, he resisted the temptation to go over the top and thus kept a modicum of dignity. Always in character, he played the role with great abandon in this unlikely farcical world." The play, which had five nominations at the gala, was performed at both the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and The Burlington Performing Arts Centres in January as part of BOTG's 2013-2013 Season of Comedy. Led by director Lana Borsellino, Leading Ladies starred Kate Park as Meg Snider, Mike Mitton as Duncan Wooley, Robert Laszcz as Doctor Myers, Peter Churey as Leo Clark, Rella as Jack Gable, Melissa Verwey as Audrey, Lois Minard as Florence Snider and Michael Pearson as Butch Myers. ACT-CO has been handing out THEA award statuettes annually at its gala since 1980 when it was created. fund them locally . got Local community CROWDFUNDING Get your project funded now! .com
