Thursday's election returned Liberal incumbent Kevin Flynn to position as Oakville MPP for the fourth term in a row. Flynn was victorious over his nearest rival, Oakville Progressive Conservative candidate Larry Scott, with 24,729 votes to 18,895 -- with Flynn earning 49.4 per cent of the popular vote. Oakville NDP candidate Che Marville received 3,973 votes while Green Party's Andrew Chlobowski earned 1,902; Libertarian candidate David Clement received 393; and Freedom Party of Ontario candidate Silvio Ursomarzo won 137 votes. These results were based on all 259 polls reporting. Halton riding Voter turnout was up in Oakville's riding of Halton, too. Of the 144,861 total electors in the riding that covers much of north Oakville, 75,420 voted. This represents a 52.1 per cent turnout. These numbers, too, are up from the 2011 provincial election when 59,162 people cast a ballot -- a 46.02 per cent turnout. The numbers were also up slightly for advance polls in the Halton riding with 8,466 ballots cast compared to 8,345 in 2011 -- even though advance polls were again offered on three fewer days. Thursday's election saw the defeat of Progressive Conservative incumbent Ted Chudleigh by Liberal challenger Indira Naidoo-Harris. Naidoo-Harris bested Chudleigh with an outcome of 33,665 votes to 27,939 -- with Naidoo-Harris receiving 44.6 per cent of the popular vote. Nik Spohr of the NDP earned 9,864 votes while Green Party of Ontario candidate Susan Farrant received 2,681 votes. Libertarian candidate Kal Ghory won 917 votes and Family Coalition Party of Ontario candidate Gerry Marsh received 354 votes. These results were based all 398 polls reporting.
