Accused sailing coach now faces 21 charges by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff 3 | Wednesday, June 11, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com A 31-year-old Ancaster man, facing 21 charges including sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual exploitation, was released on bail for a second time after a hearing in Milton court Friday. Justice of the Peace Mark Curtis granted $50,000 bail to Sean Hewson, under the same strict conditions placed on him the previous week by Justice of the Peace Paul inside today's Editorial Sports Beaver www.insideHALTON.com Macphail, before releasing him from custody. There is a publication ban in effect. None of the allegations have been proven in court. Hewson, who has worked at numerous organizations from the YMCAs in Oakville and Burlington, to the Red Sean Hewson Twitter Cross and Oakville and Bronte yacht clubs, must remain at home unless he's accompanied by one of his sureties, members of his family. He is also restricted from entering Halton unless it's to visit his lawyer, doctor, police or court in the presence of at least one surety. Wearing a grey polo and khakis with a black jacket covering his hands in cuffs, he made little eye contact with anyone and spoke quietly when questioned by Curtis. He left court with his family. He was represented by criminal lawyer Kaley Hepburn. Hewson will be back in court July 2. To date, seven males, including four former members of the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club have come forward with allegations of assaults that took place in the Oakville, Burlington, Nepean and Kingston areas when they were between the ages of 13-16, said Halton police. Six alleged victims came forward prior to last week's hearing. The accused was arrested again by Halton police when a seventh alleged victim came forward last Thursday. The alleged incidents date back to 2003, see Man on p.5 6 11 Artscene Classified 10 13 Listen Up Canada, Real Estate, Oakville Learning Centre, Rona, Oakville Swim Academy, Lowes Canada, Atmosphere, National Sports XS Cargo, Bouclair Sears Geomedia, BBQ Galore Golf Town Rogers, Sport Chek *All flyers not necessarily delivered to all homes For home delivery & customer service call 905-631-6095, 5300 Harvester Rd., Burlington New subscriptions call 905-631-6095 or subscribe online @ www.oakvillebeaver.com Helping You Make Smart Decisions About Your Money Voted Number 1 Financial Planner 10 Years SUMMER PROMOTIONS AVAILABLE Half Day Kids Summer Camps 1:00pm - 4:00pm Please visit our website for more details www.barrelife.ca $150 for full week $35 for the day Peter Watson MBA, CFP, R.F.P., CIM, FCSI Certified Financial Planner SINCE 1991 Barre Life Studio Get a dancer's body... without the dance! 427 SPEERS RD.
