A2 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday March 6, 2002 No leads in murder investigation of Oakville man Police have no suspects in last month's slaying of an Oakville man found in the Nith River by Highway 401, and are appealing again for public assistance in solving this crime. John Wayne Funk, 45, an engineering consultant who was working in Cambridge, was found Jan. 19 in the Nith River, below the Highway 401 bridge. "We are still looking for anybody who might have seen Funk's vehicle on the highway," especial ly at the time the vehicle was found and shortly afterwards, said Const. Bob McDonald, of the Oxford Community Police Service, which is inves tigating the murder. Police are also interested in talking to anyone who saw Funk in the days before his death, McDonald said. Mulvale's campaign consisted of a cock tail party fundraiser that was attended by many prominent Oakville residents, from counciUors, to business people, and developers. Other councillors also accepted donations from developers. Ward 4 Councillor Allan Elgar wasn't so eager to put the issue to rest. Elgar said he has been swamped with requests for the report on council lors' campaign expenses to be posted on the Town of Oakville's Web site. While the Mayor assured Elgar that "there's no secrecy here" and that the report is public, Elgar persisted and brought forward a motion which Flynn seconded. When council got into a voting melee about whether to spend the time of Town staff, posting the report on the Internet, it was agreed to defer Elgar's request until after a report on the last cam paign comes forward from Town Clerk Cathie Best at the Administrative Services Committee on March 26.
