As of July 2014, Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) was established as a new Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) Site. "This designation allows us to expand and further enhance our program in line with our patient centred care philosophy," explains Dr. Jillian Feberwee, Lead Radiologist for Women's Imaging at HHS. For more information about the benefits of the OBSP designation, please log on to the HHS website: www.haltonhealthcare.com. You can download a copy of the Annual Report by visiting our HHS website: www.haltonhealthcare.com Introducing Guest Meals Sometimes a family member or friend may want to stay and dine with the patient they are visiting. Starting September 2014, guest meals will be available on all inpatient units at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and can be purchased for $10.00 per meal. "We often have situations where a parent of a sick hospitalized child, a visiting spouse or a family member of an elderly patient is staying all day or even through the night to help care or support their loved one," explains Elma Hrapovich, Director of Nutrition and Food Services. "Now these visitors can conveniently order from the hospital room and grab a bite to eat without leaving their loved one's bedside." New Oakville Hospital's Emergency Department August 2014 Conceptual Drawing Courtesy of Halton Healthcare Services: Construction progress photo, taken August 15, 2014, of an Emergency Department Waiting Area in the New Oakville Hospital and Conceptual Drawing of the same area. A new, 45,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED) is just one of the many enhancements you will see when the New Oakville Hospital, located on the corner of Third Line and Dundas Street, opens its doors in December 2015. As you can see in the construction picture above, the new ED space is taking shape and the original conceptual design of this area is quickly becoming a reality. At three times the size of the current space, it provides a more comprehensive and focused approach to care of individual patients. Its new patient/family focused design, with close proximity to Triage, Phlebotomy, and Diagnostic Imaging services, will also allow a smoother, more efficient patient flow through the ED as well as a more timely patient diagnosis. The new ED will also have additional monitored space to better accommodate acute care patients who require continuous monitoring, especially in the early phase of the patient's visit, until a diagnosis is made. We are currently looking for BINGO Volunteer Ambassadors to help fundraise, while promoting the work of OTMH and the Volunteer Association.
