George was born and raised in Port Dalhousie, Ontario and moved to Oakville in the late 1950's. He was an active member of St. Hilda's Anglican Church and later joined the Church of the Epiphany where he sang in the choir well past his 85th birthday. For years he was a senior salesman for Stanley Tools and he capped his career by becoming Canadian Sales Manager for the Kirsch Company. To all he was simply "George", a genuine, fun-loving individual. He is especially remembered for his musical talents and as a wonderful dancer. George made many friends across Canada during his travels. He was always ready with a firm handshake and had many stories to share. He loved a good joke even if it might be at his own expense! In later years he was very close to his grandchildren who remember his kindness and gentle manner. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Ian Anderson House, Dr. Helen Pyle for her care of George during his final months, and also to the Acclaim Health Home Care staff. Thanks also to the Reverend Suzanne Craven of the Church of the Epiphany. George's funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19th at the Church of the Epiphany (141 Bronte Road in Oakville).
