S P R I N G C U P Poor periods cost Sr. B Titans in pair of losses The Oakville Titans traded goals with the Six Nations Rivermen in the first and third periods of Sunday's Ontario Lacrosse Association senior B contest at River Oaks Recreation Centre. But the Rivermen outscored their hosts 8-1 in the second period to spoil Oakville's home opener, downing the Titans 16-8. Oakville held a 5-4 lead early in the middle stanza before Six Nations scored seven unanswered markers, then added another early in the third. Sean Gillies and Cam Monroe each had two goals and two assists for the Titans, who fell to 0-3 on the season. Jeff Sehl also scored twice and added an assist, with Garrett Kerr and Gage Board also finding the back of the net for Oakville. The Titans also fell victim to one poor frame Friday, seeing a 5-4 second-period lead evaporate in an 11-6 loss at the St. Catharines Saints. Monroe factored in on five of Oakville's six markers (three goals, two assists). Garrett Clifford, Gillies and Sehl also scored, and Eric Crepinsek had three assists. Goaltender Jay Preece took the loss in both contests. The Titans will have some time to address their early-season issues, with their next game scheduled for Saturday, May 24 against the Owen Sound North Stars at Glen Abbey.
