Experience Compassion Action I believe in OPPORTUNITY, CHALLENGE and CHOICE for each and every student. I know that students who feel healthy, safe and included are better able to learn. I know that walking to a "neighborhood" school is what parents want. I know that in Ward 4 Oakville, the "walk-to," "neighborhood" school is not yet geographically possible, fiscally responsible or educationally sound. It has been my honour to welcome and serve families in North West Oakville for the past eight years! I began representing you when the student population in five schools was only 2,835. I have facilitated the building of three elementary schools, one high school and several classroom additions. Today, 5,757 students attend eight elementary schools in Ward 4. That's more than double the number of students in 2006. It Is a fact that people move to oakvIlle because we offer excellent educatIonal programs! On Oct. 27, protect the quality of the education students receive in our schools. Publicly, I advocate for quality education; the safety and wellbeing of students; early intervention for struggling learners; training in emergency and mental health, first aid and CPR; increased and improved services for students with special needs; decreased walking distances; lowered student fees; fewer portables; improved communication and meaningful public consultation. Please refer to www.HDSB.ca Board Agenda and Minutes to see how my involvement has improved life for the students and families in this growing community. In confidence, I work tirelessly and successfully on behalf of students with special needs, families with extenuating circumstances and others facing obstacles in the education system. The health, well-being and education of children and adolescents has always been and will always be my priority. My priority is the success of students from ages three to 21. I know that students have different abilities and interests. I know that graduates must be prepared for the future. I know that educatIon Is the "great equalIzer." With your support on Oct. 27, I will continue to work with you and on your behalf, to do the job that I love and to bring your concerns to the board table.
