A short trip in a friend's car turned out to be a costly one after an Oakville man allegedly struck another vehicle then fled the scene. According to Halton Regional Police, the incident started at 6 p.m. Friday when a man allegedly took, without permission, the car keys of a friend visiting him at his Churchill Avenue home then drove away at a high rate of speed. On Churchill, the man lost con trol of the vehicle and crossed over to the opposite side of the road hit ting a parked car, which sustained damage to the left front fender and bumper. He then drove away with out stopping and returned home. The borrowed vehicle had exten sive damage to the left body panels and a bent left front wheel. Oleksander Uzerin, 24, of Churchill Avenue, is chained with theft over $5,000; dangerous driv ing; fail to remain or immediately return to the scene of an accident; breach of release condition of an undertaking before an officer in charge; breach of release conditions of a recognizance of bail; driving while driver's licence under suspen sion; contravening condition of graduated diver's licence. Trio rob Oakville hotel Halton Regional Police are hunting for three suspects in connection with the robbery of an Oakville hotel on Sunday. According to investigators, the incident took place around 3:40 a.m. as the night desk clerk of the Monte Carlo Hotel on South Service Road East was working in a small room near the front reception area. He was suddenly accosted by three males, who demanded to be taken to the hotel safe. One of them carried what appeared to be a kitchen knife. One of the suspects secured the key to the till drawer and removed an undisclosed amount of cash, after which all the sus pects pulled open other drawers behind the counter, but removed nothing. Once the trio ran out the front door the clerk -- who was not injured -- activated the panic alarm. The first suspect is a black male, 5 ' 10"-6', 150-180 lbs., 22 to 27 years old with a skinny build and wearing a red scarf over his head, with loose fitting and dark coloured clothing simi lar to a track suit. The second suspect is a white male, 5' 10"-6', 170-180 lbs., 22 to 27 years old with a medium build, possibly black curly hair wearing a scarf of unknown colour over his head, red track or sports pants and a white, casualstyle t-shirt. The third suspect is a white male, 5' 10"-6', 170-180 lbs., 22 to 27 years old with a medium build, clothing unknown.
