According to Halton Regional Police, the incident began around 5 a.m. when Const. John Doman was on routine patrol in the area o f 1175 North Service Rd. and observed two vehicles in the parking lot. As he drove toward them, one o f the vehi cles - a Dodge Intrepid - fled at a high rate o f speed as the driver o f a pickup truck attempt ed to block the cruiser. Const. Domon pursued the Intrepid, which failed to stop after he acti vated his emergency lights. The pursuit continued along North Service Road and into the Glen Abbey area, where Const. Domon broke o ff the chase fo r safety reasons since the Intrepid was being driven dangerously. The Intrepid was later found abandoned outside Appleby College on Lakeshore Road, after which the Canine U nit - Const. Lisa Scott and Gage - combed the area for the sus pects. Around 6:30 a.m. three youths were found hiding in the backyard o f a house on nearby Sparling Court. It was determined the Intrepid was stolen in Hamilton. The Ham ilton youths, aged 15, 16 and 17, who cannot be named under the Youth C rim inal Justice Act, are charged w ith posses sion stolen property over $5,000 and prowl by night. The 16 year old is also charged w ith fligh t from police and dangerous driving.
