T.A. Blakelock H.S. takes a trip to Urinetown T.A. Blakelock High School is staging its version of the Tony award-winning, satirical comedy musical Urinetown this week. The musical is a production about the events following a worldwide drought. Mr. Caldwell B. Cladwell, played by student Alex Bowe, and his business, the UGC (Urine Good Company), have put taxes on the public toilets and all other forms of consumption of water. Those who break the law are sent to a penal colony called Urinetown, never to return. Many rebellious poor have joined forces to form a revolution, making young UGC worker Bobby Strong, played by Blakelock's Matthew Lundy, their leader. The rebellion is willing to stop at nothing to get free water for all. The show opened last night (Wednesday) at the 1160 Rebecca St. high school and continues with performances tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday (Nov. 29). All shows start at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and will be sold at the door. All aspects of the show are run by T.A. Blakelock students. The set was built by the Grade 10 construction class, while costumes, props, lighting, sound, front of house and choreography for the musical have been run by the Grade 11 production class.
