The Oakville Beaver, W e d n e sd a y June 4, 2003 - A 7 Herring wins Oakville Alliance nomination Glen Herring has been selected as the Canadian Alliance Oakville Constituency Association's candidate in the next federal election. The nomination followed a candi date selection pro cess. The Selection Committee pro posed Herring as the nominee and the members unani mously endorsed his selection at the association's May 22 Nomination and General Meeting. Herring, who has been a resident of Oakville for 13 years, expressed his appreciation for the sup port of the local membership. "The arrogance and outright incom petence of the Jean Chretien/Paul Martin gang has to be replaced by an MP who is interested in Oakville, not internal backroom political wars." said Herring. "I look forward to restoring the phrase honourable to M embers o f Parliament." In his speech to party faithful. Herring focused on three major themes: prosperity, security, and democracy. In all three cases he concluded that Canadians are w orse off today than they were 10 years ago. "The Liberals have gutted our mili tary. overspent our tax dollars, over taxed our spending dollars and trampled on democracy." Herring said. "It is time we fix these problems." According to Oakville Constituency Association president Steven Sotnick. the Party is excited about having a can didate of Herring's caliber. "When you look at all the problems we have had with our federal govern ment. as reported year after year by the Auditor General, it is obvious that we need more people in government who have some business background, who know how to stick to a budget, meet a payroll, and lead an organization." said Sotnick. "Glen has all these skills in addition to a strong background in the volunteer sector. We believe that he will be a formidable candidate, with a very firm understanding of policy issues." visit us online @ www.oakvillebeaver.com G > OAKYIL LE 0 OAKYIL LE QUOTATION NU M B ER 0 -3 0 -2 0 0 3 REQ U EST FOR QUOTATION FOR SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF VARIOUS HEW LETT PA CK A R D /C O M PA Q PROCURVE SW ITCH ES C LO SIN G TIM E/D A TE: 12:00 NO O N, MONDAY, JU NE 16, 2003 SEALED QUOTATIONS, on forms provided, will be received by Purchasing Services (Finance Department), 1225 Trafalgar Road (1st floor), Oakville, Ontario, L6J 5A6. until 12:00 Noon, Local tim e on: MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2003 Specifications, quotation forms and quotation envelopes may be obtained from Town of Oakville Purchasing Services (Finance Department), 1225 Trafalgar Road (1st floor), Oakville.
