W illiam and Rebecca Chisholm 's 11 children, w as spotted in town last Friday and Saturday night, taking groups o f people on a w alk ing tour o f O ld O akville, and yes there was a cat rustling in the bushes at the M arket Square, yes the bells did ring at St. Jude's Church as they do hourly thanks to its bellringers, and yes there were shad ow s around Erchless thanks to the wind and the lights on inside. M acDougald, 1826-1891, was played by story teller Francine Landry, w ho decided to play the part o f this little-known Chisholm descendant to tell eerie but true tales o f Oakville's haunted past to small groups o f people participating in the Oakville Historical Society's historical G host Walk. T his w alk was part o f the society's 50th anniver sary celebration and will becom e an annual event. It was inspired by Joyce Burnell's book Ghosts o f Oakville. A second book containing more eerie ghost stories is forthcoming. A nother Ghost Walk is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 8:30 p.m. Call the O akville Historical Society at 905-844-2695 for more information.
