Thompson told the Wellspring employees that the YMCA is a charitable association, which not only runs outstanding summer camp programs, but also provides fee assistance for campers who might not otherwise be able to afford a summer camp. This year the Y will provide over 118 free weeks of camp to campers in need. It was a perfect fit for WellSpring's idea. WellSpring Pharmaceutical asked the staff to make a donation to Y camp in exchange for the chance to wear their jeans to work on two consecutive Fridays. YMCA posters, brochures and stickers were provided for those who chose to make a donation. The result was that WellSpring raised over $200 towards the YMCA of Oakville's camp fee assistance program. One idea will lead to one fun-filled week for a child in need. Every bit helps. Thank-you WellSpring Pharmaceutical Canada for helping the YMCA of Oakville to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. If you walk around any neighbourhood in Halton during the summertime, you are likely to hear four things: the sound of sprinklers and hoses watering lawns and gardens and the sounds of laughter and splashing in swimming pools. As the temperature increases, so does our use of water. It's important to remember there are some simple things we can do to conserve water and reduce the impact that high demand has on our water treatment facilities. Halton's Web site (www.region.halton.on.ca) offers great tips on how to reduce the amount of water you use when watering your lawns/gardens or washing your car. Halton's "Household Guide to Water Efficiency" also offers great tips for indoor/outdoor water conservation. To leam more, visit our Web site or give us a call.
