Even in the hospital before her death, she was worried about getting her final pieces done for the show that is now hanging. Ed Krahn, who was encour aged by Sheila Creighton to show his work, fits in well with the Creightons. His macro pho tographs of bugs and birds are gorgeous. One print is o f a grasshopper in a curled leaf, only its upper body in view, as if on the lookout. The print's real beauty is in the detail and near ness o f the grasshopper, which Krahn achieved with a macro lens and light steps. Krahn. who is a commercial and feature film animator by day, also has impressive carv ings of whales on display. "I've been doing this off and on for 20 years," said Krahn, who admits that he hasn't ever done a solo show before because he worries about critics. "I'm getting more into it now, and since meeting Sheila we've been doing things together." Sheila Creighton's contribu tion to the show complements Krahn's and vice versa. Where Krahn focuses on the animals, like a surprising shot of a hum m ingbird hovering beside a flower, Creighton documents the flora. Patterns in nature are seen in many of the photographs she has on display. The back of a leaf, with its veins stretching out to the edges is a standout, and hard to stop staring at. Her extrem e close-up o f milkweed, the white cloud being blown lightly by the wind, is deceiving. At first appearing to be a photograph o f something underwater, once figuring out the true nature of the subject, its beauty is outstanding. Most of the work in the show is for sale, but not Margaret Creighton's work, Shiela said. "These are the last six she did," and they're going to be kept for family, she said, adding that her mother will "probably be here in some form or another." Flora and Fauna is on display at the Sovereign House, 7 West River St., until Aug. 17, W ednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. 'O L D E ' O A K V IL L E IS AFFO RDABLE!
