Sr.A Rock wins first two games under new coach A change behind the Oakville Rock's bench has led to an immediate change in the senior A lacrosse team's fortunes. Oakville improved to 2-0 under new head coach Matt Sawyer with a 10-7 victory over the visiting Brampton Excelsiors Monday at Toronto Rock Athletic Centre. Sawyer took the reins of the team Friday when Phil Sanderson was relieved of his duties as head coach following the Rock's 0-7 start to the Major Series Lacrosse season. Kevin Ross sparked the Rock Monday with four goals and two assists. Stephan Leblanc added two goals and five assists, and Rob Hellyer contributed a goal and four helpers. Jordan Critch, Brad Gillies and Dam Lomas also scored for Oakville, which jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and never trailed in Monday's contest. Leblanc and Hellyer are among several Oakville regulars who missed the start of the MSL season because of their commitments with the Toronto Rock, which reached the National Lacrosse League championship series this spring. Oakville earned its first win of the MSL campaign Sunday, dumping the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks 14-8 in Sawyer's debut behind the Oakville bench. The Oakville Rock will host the Brooklin Redmen this Monday at TRAC, beginning at 8 p.m. 43 | Thursday, June 25, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Lacrosse Sr. B Titans rally to upset Six Nations The Oakville Titans overcame an 8-2 secondperiod deficit to upset the Ontario Lacrosse Association senior B league-leading Six Nations Rivermen 12-11 Sunday at Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.
