www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, October 1, 2015 | 28 I consider my residents like family; taking care of them makes me proud. IRENE, HEALTH & WELLNESS MANAGER WORKING AT CHARTWELL SINCE 2007 At Chartwell, our staff deliver more than just services; they deliver a caring and empathetic connection that truly makes life better for our residents. CHARTWELL.COM The Next Step celebrities to dance at sold-out fundraiser continued from p.24 met Tom and Trisha Zaks and told them about the dance camps for children she ran with her husband, Jamie, a former National Hockey League (NHL) player. "My husband and I were doing these camps, working with Barbara Ferrone and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton. Trisha came to us, really liking them and appreciating what we were doing for the kids in the community," said Allison. "We had a dinner at their house and she told me this idea she had. I got chills and I got tears in my eyes." New to the ball this year is a fashion show put on by Pretty in Pink Spa Studio and ivivva Oakville. Special guests will include Eldon (played by Issac Lupien) and Thalia (Taveeta Szymanowicz) from the Family Channel show, The Next Step, and performers from the Oakville Academy for the Arts, who will kick off the night's entertainment. "They (Issac and Taveeta) are not only coming to meet and greet people, answer questions and sign autographs, but they're both performing for us this year, which is very big," said Allison. There will be lots of dancing and "very precious father-daughter time because life is so busy," Allison said. "There aren't too many things that just a dad and his daughter or daughters get to go through alone. It's a pretty special evening." The Dance4Life founder said she is thrilled with all of the support the event has received from the community since launching in 2013. "Trisha and I are so proud of it being such a popular event, with it only running for two years. It's a sell-out (this year) and we're very happy with the support. People are really taking to the event and they know it's an important cause," said Allison. A date has already been set for the fourth annual ball -- Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at Le Dome Banquet Hall. Because this year's event sold out quickly, Allison recommends people start purchasing tickets early for the next ball. "To me, the event is very important to make sure we are always focusing on our kids and doing whatever we can to help them." The Oct. 3 ball will also include make-up and manicures from Pretty in Pink, games and a silent auction. For more information, visit www. oakvillefatherdaughterball.ca.
