www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, October 1, 2015 | 34 WOSS extracurricular club aims to do more than Feed a Person A youth-run, extracurricular club from White Oaks Secondary School (WOSS) is tackling hunger in Oakville. Feed a Person holds fundraisers and donates the proceeds to local charities that specialize in feeding people in the community. Its latest campaign, held last Friday (Sept. 25) in support of Hunger Awareness Week, raised $706.50 to be donated to Food for Life. The fundraiser saw pizza being sold for $1.25 to WOSS students and faculty. "Since childhood we have wanted to help those who are less fortunate," said Mohammad Moahid, Feed a Person chair. "We have created this group to be an outlet to feed people in need and we are committed to reaching our goal of making sure no one is hungry in our communities. Our goal is to fundraise for large organizations and bridge the gap between the community and those in need." The donation to Food for Life will go towards the non-profit's mission to source and distribute fresh, nutritious food to people in need through community partnerships. The funds raised by Feed a Person will provide food for more than 2,000 meals. For more information on Feed a Person, visit the organization's website at www. feedaperson.ca.
