With just more than two months to go before the new hospital opens its doors to the community, Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) gave members of the media the opportunity to tour the $2.7-billion facility, which after four years of construction has reached substantial completion. Upon arrival, the facility does not feel like a hospital as landscaping around the main entrance to the west of the building gives it a feel more like a university campus. The main lobby, which features a massive open space, huge fireplace, giant windows and even a piano, makes the lobby of the existing Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) seem almost claustrophobic. While there are still no patients present, there is plenty going on at the new facility. HHS staff is undergoing orientation at the site so they will be able to work effectively in the massive facility when it opens Dec. 13. "We are still doing orientation and training for all our staff, but there is also some systems testing going on," said Andrea Korol, a communications specialist with HHS. see Residents on p.5 Dr. Vanessa Milich & Associates Family Dental Care Encouraging Healthy and Happy Smiles Caring for Oakville Families for 10 years Welcoming New Patients Evening and Saturday Appointments Queensbury Dental coLLaGEn BooSTnG FaciaL éminence Pumpkin Latte Facial $ Pumpkin Spice Back Body Glow trick or treatment (75 minutes) PLATINUM 120 905.849.8449 Dundas St. Oakmead n Trafalgar Rd.
