Fare Share needs food by John Bkila Oakville Beaver Staff 7 | Friday, October 2, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Fare Share food bank kicks off its Thanksgiving food drive Saturday (Oct. 3) -- and it's really needed. Volunteer president Nancy Bromberg said the Speers Road food bank ran out of items -- canned corn, hot cereal, side dishes, canned salmon, and medium and large cans of soup -- this summer. "While it's not unusual for supplies to deplete toward the summer months, this year found us scrambling for product a little more than usual. That's why we're looking forward to the Thanksgiving food drive to fill shelves and warehouse to get us over the winter months," she said. The food drive runs through to Sunday, Oct. 18. Fare Share serves approximately 350-400 families per month out of its 1240 Speers Rd., Unit 6, location.
