The local program is encouraging women aged 50-74, who have not had a mammogram in the last two years, to book an appointment for the day. It's setting a target of screening 500 women in one day across the region. "Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Canadian women, affecting one in nine women in their lifetime. Regular breast cancer screenings find cancers when they are small and less likely to have spread," stated a media release.
