"It's a nice way to give back, but also we realize that we are very fortunate and we are in a position to help each other and together we're stronger than everyone separated," she said. Theriault-Martin's 16-year-old daughter has also volunteered at the event her mom calls "radical." "I think it's important for young ones to realize they can play a role in helping each other," she said, adding anyone can find themselves struggling to keep a roof over their heads at some point and it's nice to know there are people in the community that can help them get back on your feet.
