Cutting down residential speeding remains a high priority for Oakville residents. Police said as population increases, there is more and more traffic on the roads, resulting in congestion. This congestion results in motorists using secondary roads to get around faster and leading to a speeding problem in many places. Project Five-O is an annual spring/summer Oakville traffic initiative aimed at slowing down traffic on residential streets, but police said it has proven successful on an educational and enforcement level so a fall version of the program is being introduced this year. The project will run from Nov. 7-21. Police said they have identified a number of residential streets where motorists consistently disregard the posted speed limit. Pedestrians present Officers said it is important to get speeds on these streets down because of the higher number of pedestrians present. Vehicles that are travelling at high rates of speed require an increased stopping distance and have less time available for driver reaction to situations such as a child running out onto the roadway. Those not interested in slowing down for public safety should be aware that getting caught speeding also has a steep monetary penalty. *All flyers not necessarily delivered to all homes As a Maid Right owner you have my quality guarantee with every clean.
