Dog Guides spring open house Saturday Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is holding its annual spring open house Saturday (March 5) at its headquarters at 152 Wilson St. The event, running from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., invites visitors to learn about all six Dog Guide programs through demonstrations. Residents will also have opportunities to speak with trainers and volunteers, who will be present. The Puppy Program will be on-site to answer questions about fostering puppies, while local foster families will also be attending with their future Dog Guides. Lions Foundation of Canada is a national charity with a mission to assist Canadians with medical or physical disabilities by providing them Dog Guides at no cost. Its founding program, Canine Vision Canada, was established in 1985 to assist Canadians with visual impairment, and since then, the Foundation has added Dog Guide programs including Hearing Ear Service, Seizure Response, Autism Assistance, and Diabetic Alert. To date, more than 2,300 Dog Guides have been matched with people across Canada.
