And their opponents also hail from the same school, as well -- Georgetown. The finals are on tap on Monday at Sheridan College, the junior game at 3:30 p.m. and the senior game at 4:45 p.m. Admission is $2 students, $3 adults. Leslie Bishop's team from the Weston Golf & Curling Club won the junior women's side o f the 16-team event with a win over current junior wom en's champion Carrie Lindner from Brantford. Both Morgan and Bishop each won $1,000 while their opponents each won $500. The Optimists Open Bonspiel was won by Mike Callan's team from the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club with a win over the Tyler McVety foursome from the Cannington Curling Club. Sixteen teams from around the province were entered in this side of the bonspiel. According to tourney chair Gordon Parker, the quality o f youth curling continues to improve, thanks at the provincial level to the Ontario Curling Association and Curl Ontario, and at the local level to the club's junior devel opment program and chief instructor Pat Reid. Oct. 12: the Rangers dropped their first game of the season, a close one on the road, 2-1, to Burlington Eagles. Goalie Steve Mason played a great game to keep Oakville in the game. Michael Scholz scored from Michael Morrison. Oct. 7: Oakville blasted the visiting Orangeville Flyers 7-3. Goals were scored by Frazer Milligan (2), Jesse Martyn (2), Joel Brooks, Kevin Lee and Jason Bortolotti. Assists went to Spencer Taugher (2), Kyle Brodie (2), Brooks (2), Michael Morrison, Justin Wilson-Kirby, Ali Robitaille, Michael Scholz and Michael Lorenz. Oct, 5: Oakville shut out one of the team's toughest teams, Caledon Hawks, in their own bam, 2-0. Steve Mason earned the shutout. Justin Wilson-Kirby scored the opener -- and winner -- on a fine shorthanded effort in the second period. Forechecking deep in the Caledon end, he pounced on an errant clear ing attempt, waited for the Hawks goalie to make his move, and shoveled the puck up high. Michael Morrison added the second goal, from Kyle Brodie. Frazer Milligan was instrumental tying up two Caledon players in front of the net. Oct. 1: Oakville were taught a lesson in tenacity by Flamborough in a 6-6 tie, with Oakville blowing a huge lead. Sports Notes Oakville's Andrew Saulez. a fourthyear Kinesiology student had another outstanding season with the McMaster Marauders men's soccer team, making the OUA first all-star team. It's the third year he's been selected. In her senior year with William and Mary College, Oakville's Jan et Sury has been named as second all-star to her CAA conference. Her team opens up their soccer playoffs Friday. Nicole Vlahovic helped Edinboro University to its best year in women's NCAA soccer. Edinboro had an 11-5-1 record, the most wins ever for the school, and Vlahovic led the team in scoring with 12 goals and seven assists. She's already the school's all-time leading scorer with 31 goals and 17 assists. The team bowed out in its first ever PSAC playoff appearance, losing 1-0 to Bloomsburg which went on to lose the championship game to Lock Haven 2-1 in quadruple overtime, finishing off the year with a 15-2-1 record. The most recent string of action saw Oakville's boys win three of four as Oakville's opponents have taken on a much more physical approach to playing this high scoring team. It appears that the new tact is to try and slow them down with an aggressive hi-hit-hit style of play. So far, the Rangers have held their own. Here's the recent action. Scottie Benzoni was absolutely sensational in a 72 win over Hespeler Shamrocks as he racked up four goals and assisted on another. Oakville's other goals were delivered by Hollis Milroy, Shane Wilton and Darren Quan. Assists this evening went to Jeff Patterson (3), Peter Ranieri, Tyler Schlonies, Wilton, Milroy and defencemen Michael Baird, Ethan Withers and Nic Pezzente. The next game was a return trip to Hespeler where Oakville won 4-0. Benzoni continued his domination of the Shamrocks with a pair of goals while Shane Wilton popped one, as did Tyler Schlonies. Assists went to Michael Salvatore (2), Nic Pezzente, Darren Quan and Schlonies. With 20 consecutive wins, a let down was bound to occur as it most certainly did in a 6-0 defeat on the road in Fergus. Oakville lost a very physical game but bounced back with a 4-2 victory over the Woolwich Wildcats a few days later. Ranger goals were scored by Tyler Schlonies, Brian Coules, Hollis Milroy and Darren Quan. Assists were recorded by Benzoni, Baird, James Wallace, Ranieri, Pezzente and Josh Ceccarelli.
