Nurten Kaska sustained fatal injuries at around 8 p.m., after several vehicles struck a piece of metal debris, which was laying in the roadway of the Torontobound lanes of the QEW in the vicinity of Winston Churchill Boulevard. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the debris was a solid steel component of a tow truck. At two feet in length, and about 8-10 inches high, he said the debris caused signi cant undercarriage damage to the vehicles that hit it and caused them to become disabled and pull over to the shoulder of the highway. "What happened was one of the vehicles that pulled over, the driver got out of their vehicle to look at the damage when another vehicle came and struck the same piece of debris," said Schmidt in a social media broadcast. see Police on p.9 The Halton Eco Festival, an environmental fair held annually at the Glen Abbey Community Centre, featured 35 booths set up on the centre's arena oor.
