The swearing-in followed a reception in Town Hall's South Atrium for the new councillor. "It is with a great deal of pleasure that I call this meeting to order because tonight we will be technically complete for the first time in months and months as we will be recognizing the election of Ward 2 Councillor Ray Chisholm to the balance of the 2014-2018 term of Town council," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. Justice Jamie K. Trimble administered the Declaration of Office asking Chisholm to solemnly promise and declare he would truly, faithfully and impartially exercise the duties of his office to the best of his knowledge and ability. He was also asked to promise and declare he had not received and would not receive any payment or reward for the exercise of his office in a biased, corrupt or improper manner. The long-time Ward 2 resident was elected April 11 during the municipal Ward 2 byelection. Results were officially certified by the Town Clerk April 14.
